For ten balmy days and nights each May, the festival of Carnivale takes over the seaside resort village of Port Douglas offering a chance to engage in a variety of free and ticketed events. There's music, arts, sports, cuisine, fashion, culture and all styles of entertainment... and absolutely any reason you need to head to lovely Port Douglas! Now 18 years old, Carnivale has grown from a street fiesta to a broad program which involves the entire community.
2011 Port Douglas Carnivale will for the first time ever include major sporting events including the Coral Coast Triathlon, RRR Mountain Bike Challenge and the Big Paddle Outrigger Challenge. Other annual highlights include the Macrossan Street Parade, Four Mile Beach Day, the Sheraton Mirage Longest Lunch; Food, Wine and a taste of Port; The Airing of the Quilts, 20/20 Master's Cricket and a free outdoor music concert.
